Donkey Kong Country Returns jumps over to the 3DS to try and emulate further success.

Being a port of the 2010 Wii original meant I knew what I was getting myself in for: a gruelling run of challenges throughout numerous worlds and levels, topped off with a crazy difficulty, even on the new mode that comes with the 3DS, lovingly known as the easier option. It remains completely true to what Donkey Kong Country always has been too, focusing on precision platforming where timing and finding a specific groove remain key.

Know this, though: it can be infuriating. Harking back to the days when arcade machines would mug your wallet, there are times during Donkey Kong...

"Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is without a doubt flawless, just as the original Wii title was three years ago. It's difficult to understand the beauty of this game until you actually grasp it in your hands. Even if you have previously adopted the Wii title, this is an adventure absolutely worth playing again." - Nintendo Feed

"DK and Diddy get shrunken down in this adequate 3DS remake. Usually when a game is ported to a new platform, the goal is to greatly enhance it and possibly create the definitive version. With Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, that isnt really how it works. While the added 3D effect and eight additional levels are nice, it doesnt truly improve on the original in any grand way outside of making it portable and optionally easier. Still, Donkey Kong Country Returns is an excellent game (we said as much when it debuted on Wii), and the 3DS remake is a perfectly adequate way to experience the fine 2D platformer.", writes NintendoWorldReport.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf! With our Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D review out of the way, I've moved on to the next major 3DS release from Nintendo, but I'm actually distracted from fossils and fish and paying off my Nook-loan by these videos from Treehouse. There are two episodes so far discussing Animal Crossing and the herculean localization process. With all the information thrown at the player over the course of an in-game year, I can't imagine the total number of words in need of translation.
